This session will describe the unique challenges, issues, and quality assurance processes instituted for a major pump station and reservoir project for Dallas Water Utilities. As construction designs become larger and more complex, and with increasingly smaller budgets, owners are relying on the expertise of construction managers to find design discrepancies, identify scope creep, reduce risks, and institute quality assurance processes. Construction companies are often tasked with delivering highly complex projects with limited resources, inexperienced personnel, and sub-par subcontractors. In many cases, a formidable quality control program has not been developed or executed properly. This session will provide a look at the big picture and lessons learned so attendees will be able to institute quality delivery processes, including oversight, execution, and implementation of a three-phased quality approach in the project delivery process to insure owners are getting what they paid for.
